Phoebe Tonkin is a well-known Australian actress (born July 12, 1989). She is famously known for her role as Hayley Marshall in the hit series The Originals and The Vampire Diaries. She started dancing at the age of four, learning ballet, tap, modern, and hip-hop genres. Tonkin began classes at the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) at the Wharf Theatre when she was only 12 years old.

In 2005, she got her first acting role in the Australian Children’s Television Series H20: Just Add Water. She was nominated for “Best Lead Actress in a Television Series” at the Australian Film Institute Awards. She made her film debut in 2010, starring in Tomorrow: When the War Began. In early 2011, she moved to Los Angeles, California, to make waves in Hollywood. Faye Chamberlain in The Secret Circle was her first acting role after moving to the U.S. Her performance in the show was dubbed the breakout star of the series by critics. She was featured in Variety and E! as the breakout TV star. She was cast as a recurring character in The Vampire Diaries in 2012. Phoebe reprised the role of Hayley Marshall in The Originals, a spin-off series of The Vampire Diaries. In the SBS miniseries Safe Harbor, she played Olivia Gallagher. In Westworld, Phoebe played the character Penny. She expressed the desire to act in Australia again and was cast as Young Gwen Reid in Bloom.

Several projects are in the works for release in the coming years. Phoebe also owns the fashion line “Lesjour!” which she launched in October 2020. The outfit designs are inspired by leisure wear from the 70s-era California. In 2012, she and her friend Teresa Palmer launched a health website, which she eventually departed due to other work obligations.
